one last post just to clarify,

it’s all about a USD-

if value wasn’t such a commodity in reality, if human nature wasn’t so quick to compartmentalize and put labels with which to allow context, things would be different.

in an ideal world, value would be intrinsically related to something beyond finite resources

in my adventures, I’ve met a handful of those “off of the grid” or whatever that means; they usually say stuff about family stability as a good if unnecessary quantification of meaningfulness and average standard of living- more and more do I find myself inclined to agree with their ideologies

Normative views are dumb, basically. What is normal.

I’d love to live in a world in which everyone can live not “overseas”

but uh, for some of these people, it’s not exactly overseas

there is nothing normal about working in exploitative conditions in sweatshops overseas to produce clothing for americans. yes, they may have a low standard of living, but they are human beings working in conditions this country wouldn't dare to let their citizens work in, yet we continue to buy their products because of the cheap labor. while i don't condone aa's marketing of unisex clothing, don't be ignorant about "the standards of living" overseas. it's not a choice, they either work or die

it’s exploitive depending on the culture. there’s little to be done about the institutions creating these piece of shit jobs, but when the difference is between working in a sweatshop where no one could possibly give a shit about your life having meaning and picking through the garbage for scraps (as it is in the areas where companies outsource their cheapest labor), it’s some semblance of HONORABLE to have a consistent job.

I’m not saying that it’s right. I’m not saying that things shouldn’t be different. I’m just trying to operate in the stark contrasts of reality for some third-world folk.
